Beca - PostDoc Researcher at the EFI headquarters (FINLANDIA)

European Forest Institute (EFI) is now seeking a (Post-Doc) Researcher for the Sustainability and Climate Change Research Programme at the EFI headquarters, Joensuu, Finland


The European Forest Institute (EFI) is an international organisation established by European States. EFI headquarters is located in Joensuu, Finland. EFI has several Regional Offices across Europe, a Policy Support Office in Barcelona, Spain, and a FLEGT office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Sustainability and Climate Change Programme at EFI conducts policy-oriented research and disseminates information for scientists, policy makers and other stakeholders on the following topics:
• Climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation
• Assessing goods and services provision from European forests
• Sustainability Impact Assessments for the forest-based sector
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Synthesizing recent research progress on impacts of climate change and options for adaptation in European forests
• Analysing ecosystem service provisioning under alternative land use strategies in Europe
• Communicating the scientific results of the MOTIVE project (Models for Adaptive Forest Management) to different target audiences
• Active interaction with MOTIVE project partners and the Communications team at EFI
Qualifications
• PhD or at least five years of equivalent work experience
• University degree in an appropriate field (e.g. forest or environmental sciences)
• Expertise in assessments of climate change impacts and adaptation
• Experience with interpreting model outputs and data processing using Geographic Information Systems
• Excellent communication skills; experience with stakeholder engagement is an asset
• Proficiency in English
Duty station
The position is based at the EFI Headquarters, Joensuu, Finland.
Employment conditions
The Researcher will be an EFI staff member. The duration of employment is one year with the possibility of extension based on the performance of the employee and the availability of new projects.
