EFICENT is seeking a researcher to work in the project ‘Establishing a European network of demonstration sites for the integration of biodiversity conservation into forest management (Integrate+)’. The aim of the project is to establish demonstration sites in main forest types in Europe with a focus on implementation of integrative concepts to allow for transnational exchange of experiences. It develops innovative IT tools, including mobile training software applications for practitioners, enabling to perform virtual tree selection exercises under different forest management strategies. Integrate+ organises field visits and training, the exchange of scientific and practical knowledge and facilitates network building.

The working language of the Institute is English.

Tasks and responsibilities

• General support to the Integrate+ project tasks, as agreed with project leader
• Assist in establishing Integrate+ demonstration field sites in different European countries 
• Compilation of background materials for demonstration sites, guides and handbooks
• Support in planning and organising project events, field visits and training exercises

Qualifications

• MSc in the field of forestry, natural resource management, or related fields
• Work experience in forest biodiversity, silviculture or related field
• Excellent written and oral English skills (knowledge of German is an asset)
• Good computing skills (experience with GIS software is an asset)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in international working environment
