Empleo - Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in molecular biology with focus on epigenetic mechanisms underlying the impact of climatic conditions during embryogenesis in Norway spruce on progeny plants.

The Department of Plant Sciences (IPV) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) has a vacant 3 year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in molecular biology with focus on epigenetic mechanisms underlying the impact of climatic conditions during embryogenesis in Norway spruce on progeny plants (epigenetic memory).

IPV has approximately 80 employees, including permanent and temporary scientific positions, PhD students, post doctors, technicians and administrative positions.

The Department has six sections: Agroecology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Protection, Plant Biology and - Biotechnology, Food Crops, and Environmental Horticulture. Plant research at IPV covers a wide range of fields within molecular biology, genetics, genomics, plant physiology, plant breeding, agronomy, horticulture, landscape restoration and arboriculture.

Main tasks;
- Investigate the epigenetic mechanisms underlying epigenetic memory in Norway spruce.
- Identify target genes of the epigenetic machinery.
- Study methylation and histone modifications in target genes in plants arising from high and low embryogenesis temperature.
- Phenotyping with respect to bud-dormancy related traits (i.e. traits affected by the epigenetic memory).
